JOHN C. FRICKE ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL COTTONSEED PRODUCTS ASSOCIATION

John C. Fricke of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was elected Vice President of the National Cottonseed Products Association (NCPA) at the closing session of their 112th annual convention in Destin, Florida. Fricke is currently General Manager and CEO of Planters Cotton Oil Mill, Inc. He succeeds Ed Lawton, III, of Hartsville, South Carolina, who became NCPA President.

Fricke joined the company in 1998 as vice president of marketing and was appointed to his current position in 2007. In 1977 a group of ginners purchased a cottonseed oil crushing facility located at 1021 East Fifth Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The plant was organized as a cooperative under the name of Planters Cotton Oil Mill, Inc. In 1991 Planters began construction of a modern cottonseed crushing facility located at 2901 Planters Drive in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. This was the first new cottonseed plant to be built in over 50 years.

Fricke has served on the Rules Committee and the Cottonseed & Products Export Committee of the NCPA, and is a current member of NCPA's Board of Directors. He also serves as a Cottonseed delegate and Board member to the National Cotton Council. Fricke is a past president of the American Cotton Linter Association.

Fricke received his BA in Marketing from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock in 1983.

The NCPA was established in 1897 and is the national trade association for the cottonseed processing industry. Association membership also includes refiners, which process cottonseed oil into semi-finished and finished products, dealers and brokers who market cottonseed products, and commercial laboratories that provide grading, quality control, referee and other services.

Major services of the Association are the administration of trading rules and standards, foreign market development for cottonseed products, internet resources www.cottonseed.com, www.cottonseedoiltour.com and www.espanol.cottonseed.com, and as an information service center for members on legislation, statistics, government regulations, court decisions, and other factors affecting their business.
